Can you say “eye candy”?

Neal and I have heard a lot about people wanting more themes for Enano. We’re definitely listening, and we want to release more themes.

First of all, we’ve decided that the default Oxygen theme included with Enano is bordering on ugly. There is a reason for that: I made the theme with a lot of focus on usability while looking OK enough to use temporarily on a site without getting any hate mail. But I didn’t make it beautiful because I want to encourage people to customize their Enano sites so that they establish their own visual identity. You’ve got proof that this can be done with the Deluge website. Furthermore, I have continued to include the St. Patty theme with a default Enano installation, so you have at least 2 options. Oxygen is also great for error pages because it can display in literally any browser – even Lynx or dillo. (OK, well I don’t know about dillo.)

Second of all, we know that there aren’t a lot of Enano themes out there. This is your official call to arms: port themes or design your own whenever you’ve got 30 minutes to spare. The more themes we get, the better. What are we offering in return? Well, it depends who we can get to sponsor us — but if we can raise enough money, the prizes could be pretty nice.

Third of all, I’m working on my own themes. I’ve already designed Springy; it has a few finishing touches to go before I can get a beta released.  I want to port Monobook (MediaWiki’s default theme) to Enano as well as the old Box Art theme that was (and continues to be) the default look for the ExperienceUI website and everything running the old Midget codebase.

All in all, if you’re a website administrator without much designer blood, rest assured, the eye candy is coming. :D
